Sassy Spring Flowers

Dee made these four greeting cards using Posh's splendid new Funky Flower stamp set on the very first day it was produced. John Lee, of Krew Media Productions, has again presented Dee's work in the most clever manner with this project as well as over 40 other projects put together by Dee and other well known stamping artists. This example has John converting all of the cards into flowers and then placing them into the vase.

This stamp set is another example of the freshness, joy and color that is Dee's trademark. Dee is pure joy herself and she wants others to feel the same elation and love of life. So jump into this project yourself and you will pick up on the feeling.

Note the colors of the largest vase. They can be produced either byusing Blending Bloxstamp pads or by Marvy Brush Art Markers. High and low shadows on the other vases are produced by the same products. You can't miss having more interesting shading effects with them. Solid colors can be boring and all things have shades of light. The stripes in the vase are automatically produced by negative space as it was designed and with the stamp made by Sunday International providing the deepest etchings for the stripes.

So, let yourself bloom by having fun with this new set and then send some cards made with it to friends to make their day!We are often asked how she gets her rich color results. It's Blox & Marvy's! And it's also directions such as to use a paper card with opaqeness and to hold the stamp to the paper for 10 seconds without rushing should ensure that you are more than pleased. Directions below are written to include Dee's tips for getting the color and precision that she is known for

Directions and Tips to Get Dee's Best Results

  1. Stamp all backgrounds such as spot patterns or draw any wanted boxes or lines first
  2. Stamp vases first & then use a post-it note to cover vase for protection before stamping flowers in vases.
  3. You can stamp vases & flowers directly onto the cards without using sticker paper unless you choose to overlap images or have patterns or lines beneath them. For sticker paper, use opaque instead of glossy sticker paper so that colors beneath do not show through.
  4. Always stamp an image on scratch paper first to see if you like the result and see that you have pressed without rocking or pressing too hard.
  5. Hold the stamp to the paper and count to 10 before lifting to get brightest, purest colors with all parts colored evenly.
  6. The blended colors on vases were done using Blending Blox to achieve color variation, tones and shading. When running color blends together further than the small pad can handle, match darks to darks and lights to lights by rotating the pad to put the dark to dark, etc. A video shows how to do it here (see video at right) Marvy Markers can be used instead.
  7. When changing colors, clean stamps by stamping on damp rag and then on dry paper.
  8. If using sticker paper, after cutting out images leaving a thin white border all around, before removing sticky backing from sticker paper, place in several positions to see where most desired. Then, remove just a corner to hold in place before removing the rest of it and smooth out with the palm of hand to put it in place permanently .
  9. Keep cards out of sunlight or bright lights to preserve colors.
  10. Let your imagination and creativity loose and mostly have FUN! The Funky Flower set as well as all of Dee's sets provide many combinations and posh-abilities and sets are designed to be used interchangably.
