Above is a delightful card sent to Posh as a complete surprise by Judy Conroy. We had never heard Dee gasp with such surprise and delight before when opening an envelope. What Dee saw was the above card and it has such a delicate grace about it. The inside has two partitions. The first tells a story in verse......

In the shadow box of her memories the precious items
from her past were vividly displayed.

The hand painted silk obi sash that she wrapped
around her bejeweled kimono, worn on
her wedding day...

Her grandfather's treasured bonsai tree
that he so lovingly cared for all his life,..

And the beautiful porcelain rice bowl
with the ivory chopsticks.

The second partition says a timeless truth.....

To love what you do
and feel that it matters...
how could anything be more fun!

Directions:
A double lined shadow box frame was created on card front with the 005 Micron Pen. The frame was divided into four sections so each image would fit inside their respective boxes. The frame was colored in using a Marvy Brush art marker.

Kimono was stamped on scrap piece of white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, cut out & placed in box #1. Scroll designs on kimono were filled in with the Twinkling pens in melon, gold, pink, & blue. Flowers & leaves on kimono were colored with shades of pink & green Copic markers. Blue Copic markers were blended as the background color on sleeves & hem. Micron pen was used to add finishing touches to leaves & other areas of kimono. Pink stickles glitter glue was added to centers of pink flowers. Lastly, self-adhesive gems defined flower centers on sleeves and hem.

Bonsai Tree was first stamped on scrap piece of white cardstock using Marvy brush art markers in red, light brown, & light green applied directly to the rubber image. Without cleaning stamp the image was again stamped on another piece of white cardstock. Using various shades of green, yellow, brown, & red Copic markers areas of the image were blended together. Tree and container were defined with delicate strokes of the 005 Micron pen. Image was cut out and adhered inside box #2.

The Obi Sash border was stamped on a scrap piece of white cardstock using Dee’s Signature Blending Blox in Shades of Blue. Gold dots were added randomly to background with Micron black dots in the centers of the gold dots. Crystal gems embellished centers of flowers. Sash was cut out and applied in box #3.

Rice bowl was stamped directly into box #4 using Color Box Chalk – Bisque. Iris design on bowl colored with copic markers. Micron pen work defined the entire image.

The Shadow Box card is finished and ready to steal its way into someone’s heart!
